Brownell's Zouaves

Fictional Rhode Island militia company.

The real Kady Brownell was a "Daughter of the Regiment" of the 1st Rhode Island Detached Militia and The 5th Rhode Island Battalion. Here she is in a drill costume in 1870. Her costume was based on the Burnside Zouaves company, part of the 10th Rhode Island Regiment.

The following figures are Brigade Game: BG-GACW005 Women in ACW Zouave uniforms - Kepis (6)

The fiction Brownell Zouaves did not wear the "miniskirt" in the field and carried Sharps Carbines.
Members were local mill girls (as was Kady) of "good character" between the ages of 18 and 25.

Now what's so adventuresome about Rhode Island? It's "spook central" for numerous H.P. Lovecraft stories.
